Hawk's Eye is a variety of microcrystalline quartz belonging to the fibrous quartz family. This stone is characterized by its alternating bands of blue-gray and golden-brown, creating a distinctive optical effect called chatoyancy. Originating from South Africa, Hawk's Eye forms by pseudomorphosis of crocidolite, a fibrous mineral that gradually transforms into quartz. This transformation preserves the fibrous structure, giving rise to the characteristic luminous reflections. Mineralogically, Hawk's Eye has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, making it suitable for everyday jewelry. The 5-6 mm beads offer an ideal intermediate size for bracelets, allowing good visibility of the chatoyancy while maintaining comfortable wearability.
