Amber baby bracelets and necklaces

The amber teething necklace is a classic in European tradition, particularly in Nordic and Baltic countries, where it has been passed down from generation to generation. Baltic amber is a fossilized resin 30 to 50 million years old that naturally contains succinic acid, a substance to which tradition attributes soothing properties. Worn against a baby's skin, the amber is said to release small amounts of this acid upon contact with body heat, which supposedly helps alleviate discomfort associated with teething: sore gums, irritability, and disturbed sleep.

A point of honesty is necessary: to date, no scientific study has formally confirmed the effectiveness of amber on teething pain. What does exist is a living tradition, thousands of parents who attest to its benefits, and a practice that has endured for centuries. We will never sell amber as a remedy, but rather as a traditional heritage that many families continue to choose to support their children through this stage.

At La Boîte à Cailloux, the safety of our amber teething necklaces is our absolute priority. Each bead is individually knotted so that if the necklace breaks, only one bead will come loose. The clasp is a breakaway (pop-type) clasp that opens under tension to prevent any risk of strangulation. Important reminder: an amber necklace should always be worn under supervision, should never be worn during sleep, and must be removed at night.
