Also called Chrysoberyl because of its yellow color and intense shine, this stone is commonly called "cat's eye" due to a phenomenon of light reflection creating a vertical luminous line similar to the pupil of a feline.

Cat's eye is divided into three categories: the first includes translucent stones with no optical effect; the second, often called Cymophane, is rich in iron and shines in a contrasting manner; the third, Alexandrite, changes color depending on the light, going from red to green. All these categories are prized for their luminous hues and their shimmering appearance, but it is rare to find specimens of more than two carats or with color changes or other optical phenomena.
