The most beautiful specimens come from Brazil (Minas Gerais), Madagascar, Ukraine, and Nigeria. Some crystals reach impressive sizes: heliodor shares with other beryls the ability to form large crystals, a characteristic of the family.

Its intact crystalline structure is believed to diffuse an energy of solar confidence, willpower, and intellectual clarity more intensely than the polished version.
