Topaz is part of the silicate group. It can be found in all colors, depending on whether it contains iron, chromium, magnesium, or titanium.
Imperial topaz is orange to golden in color.
Its name comes from the Greek "topazos" or "topos azos" (deserted place), where it is said to have been discovered for the first time.
"Imperial" is said to come from one of the Russian tsars who appropriated the entire Russian production and associated the name "imperial" with it.
It is found mainly in Brazil, Pakistan, the United States, Madagascar, Russia, China, and many African countries, as well as in France. In ancient Egypt, it embodied the sun god Ra.
