Since Antiquity, this stone has been defined as the sailor's stone. Its intense blue is reminiscent of water and seas. Sailors used it as a talisman to combat seasickness, fight off storms and avoid getting sick.
It was also used as a vision stone. Thanks to the color of its crystal, it was used to make the eyes of statues. It is said that people who looked at these eyes received the gift of clairvoyance.
Greek legends say that aquamarine is in fact the stone of sirens and allows sailors not to succumb to their songs. We found traces of aquamarine amulets where images of Poseidon, god of the sea, dolphins or tridents were engraved.

The Greeks considered these engraved amulets to have more powers to calm the anger of Poseidon and encourage the return of the boats.
At that time, aquamarine was known to attract luck and wealth.
The Romans made many jewelry with this stone. If they engraved a frog on an aquamarine, it allowed reconciliation with their enemies.
The Chinese associate aquamarine with the goddess Guanyin. Great goddess who symbolizes pity, compassion, love, she is also the protector of women and children. Legend has it that this stone helps the unlucky and the sick.
Furthermore, the Mayans honored Akna, goddess of motherhood and birth with aquamarines. And in Slavic mythology, aquamarine represents Kulapa, goddess of herbs and magic.
In the Middle Ages, poisonings were numerous. Aquamarine was known to be a powerful antidote. Thus, many nobles owned this stone. They immersed it in water for several hours. It is claimed that this water also treated eye and digestive problems.
During the medieval era, the art of divination appeared. So, we began to make aquamarine crystal balls. This crystal was highly sought after for its clarity and transparency. But, it was used for other forms of divination using an aquamarine suspended on a thread above a bowl filled with water with engraved letters. The soothsayer asked a question and the aquamarine crystal designated the letters of the answer from beyond.
It was customary to say that aquamarine, worn as a necklace, gave happiness and joy in marriages. It even offered the possibility of rekindling the flame within the couple. Thus, aquamarine became the stone offered for the 23 years of marriage.
This stone represents the stone of the traveler like Saint Thomas who made numerous trips by boat to evangelize the newly colonized lands.
Aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua marina which translates “sea water”.

In lithotherapy, aquamarine is a stone which brings peace, which consolidates a budding love (which makes it a perfect engagement ring). Otherwise, it strengthens the love of long-term couples. Thus, it promotes sincere relationships over long periods of time.

This stone, with its soothing side, helps the mind to relax and brings positive thoughts. This stone is an excellent stress reliever, it facilitates gentle communication and strengthens listening to others. Its vibrations reduce anxiety and provide peace, calm and serenity.

Long used in the Middle Ages in the manufacture of crystal balls, aquamarine represents clairvoyant and sensible spirits. Wearing aquamarine helps accentuate intellect and memorization. It is said that she is a great support among students, especially during exam periods. Their communication skills help with public speaking and combat stage fright. It is particularly indicated during oral exams.

It combats lack of self-confidence, brings clairvoyance and inner peace. It is strongly recommended for anxious and stressed people.
The color of aquamarine is associated with that of a calm sea, it has become a stone of protection in maritime voyages. It is the stone of sailors, of navigators in general.
