Peristerite is a stone with a great deal of controversy surrounding its name. Indeed, it is commercially called “white labradorite” Or “Rainbow moonstone” . However, these are not the same stones. They are often confused because they belong to the feldspar group.

As a reminder, feldspar is the most abundant mineral group in the Earth's crust, making up more than 50%. It is part of the composition of many rocks of volcanic, igneous or metamorphic origin.

However, mineralogically speaking, peristerite is quite different from moonstone. Chemically and visually, they do not have the same characteristics, although they share fairly similar properties.

Thus, there are no legends specific to peristerite. In fact, legends and myths mainly concern moonstone.

Peristerite is a mixture of albite and oligoclase composed of sodium and calcium aluminosilicate. This variety of albite exhibits a peristerescence effect (a shimmering effect beneath the surface of the stone): these are iridescences caused by the interplay of light in alternating very thin layers of albite and oligoclase. These iridescences are also called the 'Schiller effect': they present a blue, mirror-like appearance.

Peristerite forms in igneous rocks, magmatic rocks, mainly in pegmatites (magmatic rocks with large crystals), but also in metamorphic rocks and in hydrothermal veins.

This stone has a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale (for example, diamond has a maximum hardness of 10 on the same scale). Peristerite has a triclinic crystal system.

The main deposits are located in India, Canada, the United States, Mexico, China, etc.

Peristerite is an ideal stone for regaining self-assurance and confidence. It helps one become aware of their true worth. It reduces indecisiveness and develops intuition. It allows one to move forward in life and overcome difficulties. Furthermore, it eliminates doubts and fears.

This stone is gentle and soothing. It brings serenity and peace. By restoring self-esteem, this stone allows one to look to the future with optimism.

This stone provides vitality and energy. It significantly reduces feelings of fatigue and mental strain. It opens one to communication, compassion, and empathy. It encourages altruism.

Peristerite is also a protective stone against negative energies. It is even recommended for caregivers, healthcare professionals, and anyone involved in helping and listening to others. It helps to shield them from harmful influences.

This stone is also recommended for people experiencing difficulties in their relationships. It encourages calm and reasoned discussion, without shouting or insults. It releases tension and opens up constructive dialogue.

Peristeritis helps overcome negative emotions such as stress, sadness, and pessimism. It combats past traumas and helps overcome certain blockages such as fear of abandonment.
