Since ancient times, this stone has been defined as the sailor's stone. Its intense blue recalls that of water, of the seas. Sailors used it as a talisman to combat seasickness, fight storms, and avoid getting sick.

During the medieval era, the art of divination appeared. Thus, aquamarine crystal balls began to be made. This crystal was highly sought after for its clarity and transparency. But it was also used for other forms of divination using an aquamarine suspended by a thread over a bowl filled with water with engraved letters. The diviner asked a question and the aquamarine crystal indicated the letters of the answer from the afterlife.
It was customary to say that aquamarine, worn as a necklace, brought happiness and joy to marriages. It even offered the possibility of rekindling the flame within the couple. Thus, aquamarine became the stone given for 23rd wedding anniversaries.
This stone represents the traveler's stone, like Saint Thomas who made many sea voyages to evangelize newly colonized lands.
