However, they are two completely different minerals.

Citrine is a yellow variety of quartz, composed mainly of silicon dioxide.

Topaz is an aluminum fluorosilicate.

Topaz also has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, compared to 7 for quartz.

Topaz and Aquamarine

Certain blue topazes can be visually similar to aquamarine.
