Fulgurite (lat. fulgur = lightning) or "lightning stones" are fragile natural glass in the shape of a cylindrical tube, produced by lightning strikes on sandy soil.

Derived from natural silica, fulgurite is a rather mysterious mineral.
Although an extremely fragile mineral variety, fulgurite has an amorphous crystal system with a hardness of up to 6.
There are fulgurite deposits in the United States, but also in certain countries such as Libya and Egypt.
It is also given the name fulgur which comes from the Latin derivative and which means lightning.
Cylindrical in shape, raw fulgurite is chemically formed following lightning strikes in the sand. This is why it is called fulgurite. It is used both in lithotherapy and to create magnificent jewelry.
