The amazonite stone owes its name to the river, as it is said to have been discovered in large quantities in a river in the Amazon. However, studies have shown that there was a confusion with another stone.
On the other hand, it has been established that amazonite is one of the fine stones used for thousands of years. Countless pieces of jewelry dating from the Neolithic era were made with this stone and found in Jordan. Since antiquity, traces of this stone have been found in Mesopotamia, India, Egypt, Sudan, etc.

In Mesopotamia, this stone was attributed to Tiamat, goddess of salt waters, oceans, and chaos. According to Babylonian mythology, this goddess is at the origin of creation. Following her union with the god of fresh waters, she gave birth to the first gods.

In Egypt, amazonite was used to make jewelry and amulets. It was used in jewelry and was even found in Tutankhamun's tomb on a scarab-shaped ring. This stone was found in rituals to protect the souls of the dead. Moreover, the Egyptians used it for its virtues, particularly that of being a powerful antidote against insect stings and bites or snakebites. Part of the writings of the Book of the Dead was engraved on amazonite.

Among the Navajo Indians in North America, this stone honored the goddess Estsanatlehi, who was responsible for the creation of Man. It also has protective functions. It is sometimes called the Earth Goddess. Throughout the year, her appearance changes with the seasons. She goes from youth to maturity and from maturity to old age. Every winter, she is very weakened and regains all her vitality in spring.

Another legend from Greek mythology tells that this stone was named amazonite to honor the Amazon warriors and their courage. They wore shields adorned with this stone to protect them and give them strength. Thus, the Greeks also adorned their shields with amazonite to obtain protection, courage, and strength.

Research has shown that this stone was essentially widespread in the Sahara. Approximately 8,000 years before Christ, this region was very green and welcoming. Archaeologists have therefore found traces of ancient amazonite deposits, and even remains of workshops where artisans worked this stone.

Nowadays, amazonite is used in jewelry making for bracelets, pendants, earrings, rings, and necklaces. Jewelers keep it in its raw state to highlight its unique patterns.

In lithotherapy, amazonite is considered a stone that brings tenderness. It is also called the stone of empathy. The wearer of this stone analyzes their feelings very well and lives a relatively peaceful life. They have the chance to easily understand the feelings of others, which allows them to get along well with those around them.

This stone brings happiness, as it blocks all negative emotions such as stress, fear, and lack of self-confidence. Thus, wearing an amazonite will naturally release positive energy. The wearer of this stone will know how to manage and relativize complicated situations.

This stone is excellent for people suffering from great sadness, a lack of desire to live, and various frustrations. It brings them joy of life; it is also called the stone of happiness. It is even renowned in cases of romantic breakup, as it relieves the suffering that separation causes.

Moreover, it encourages fighting against jealousy and resentment, while promoting self-confidence and creativity. It helps the mind stay open to all new perspectives and facilitates involvement in new projects.
