Jasper is a sedimentary rock containing 80 to 95% silica, often classified with microcrystalline quartz but which can also contain clay. It is made up of chalcedony radiolaria taken in a chalcedony cement. Its fracture is scaly, sometimes conchoidal. Jasper can have several aspects: spotted, banded, red (or oriental), with red spots on a green background, black (from Sicily), etc. Its essential particularity is its wide range of natural colors, we can estimate, a priori that no color is impossible for jasper.
