Shattuckite is a relatively new stone. In 1915, it was first discovered in Bisbee, Arizona, at the Shattuck Mine. This is how it got its name. This stone is a copper silicate rock. It does not contain aluminum. It is found in blue colors, ranging from light to dark blue. It is usually associated with various stones such as chrysocolla, thus providing a unique and distinctive color. Its hardness is 3.5 on the Mohs scale.
It is also called Quantum Quattro due to the presence of the 4 minerals: quartz, shattuckite, chrysocolla, malachite and dioptase.
It should be noted that there are no legends or myths associated with this stone. No shattuckite has been found during archaeological excavations anywhere. On the other hand, chrysocolla has a very long history, as many civilizations around the world have a history with this mineral.
For example, in 1000 BC, King Solomon of Israel is said to have owned magnificent copper mines. These mines produced a blue-green stone, then known as King Solomon's Stone. This fabulous stone was a combination of chrysocolla, malachite, and turquoise.
But it was in 315 BC that this stone was described by the Greek philosopher Theophrastus. It is mainly used for soldering gold in jewelry making. In fact, the name of this stone is derived from two Greek terms, namely "chrysos" and "kolla," meaning "gold" and "glue." The copper was recovered and used to solder the gold.
Chrysocolla has been believed to have metaphysical properties since ancient Egypt. In fact, it was even nicknamed the "stone of wisdom." Diplomats wore it during important negotiations to find favorable solutions. Queen Cleopatra herself chose to wear chrysocolla jewelry during her meetings with foreign ambassadors. Indeed, she was reputed to have a fiery temperament, and this stone allowed her to remain calm and collected.
In the Middle Ages, chrysocolla was ground into powder and was said to have medicinal properties, particularly for treating the stomach. It was also said to promote wound healing and alleviate certain vision problems.
During the Renaissance, chrysocolla was used as a pigment for painting. Traces have been discovered in the works of some painters or on wall frescoes.
More generally, across several civilizations, notably that of the South American Indians, chrysocolla was used as a talisman. Indeed, it served to protect warriors and provide them with strength and physical resistance.
The main deposits of shattuckite chrysocolla stone are found in South Africa, Namibia, the United States, Argentina, Chile and Peru.
In lithotherapy, shattuckite promotes positive communication, which leads to truly constructive exchanges. It is recommended for conflictual relationships. This stone is sometimes nicknamed the "stone of friendship" because it encourages listening, understanding, tolerance, and forgiveness. It fosters harmony and goodwill between people.
This stone is a calming stone. It helps overcome stress and tension, and combats phobias and guilt. It dissipates feelings of anger and rage. In this way, it restores hope to couples in the process of separating. Indeed, it eliminates aggression and resentment, and promotes understanding while restoring longevity. In the event of a breakup, it helps heal a broken heart and move on.
Shattuckite encourages learning and develops creativity. It promotes clear and powerful speech. It helps you stay focused on achieving your goals. Thus, it eliminates the fear of failure. This stone erases past traumas and allows you to move forward in life. It develops the courage to embrace your true self, while providing deep wisdom. This stone is a kind of energy channel, which helps you overcome difficulties.
