This salt is found in the "salt mountains" of Pakistan, in the southwestern extension of the Himalayas. This is why it is called "Himalayan Salt," but it is not actually mined in the Himalayan massif.

Of fossil origin, this salt owes its formation to the evaporation of seas tens of millions of years ago. Predominant in mines in northern Pakistan, this salt has been used and extracted for nearly 2000 years.
It was Alexander the Great who initiated its use and interest thanks to the benefits that salt provided to the horses of his army.

Why is this salt pink? It's simply chemistry behind this color.
