Collection: Dentrite agate

Dendrite agate (or dendritic agate) is a variety of agate, a form of chalcedony , itself a type of quartz. What makes it unique is its branching inclusions that resemble plants , trees , or ferns —hence its name, "dendrite," which comes from the Greek dendron , meaning "tree."

✦ Main features

  • Base color : translucent to milky white or pale gray.

  • Inclusions : black, brown or dark green, formed by manganese or iron oxides.

  • Structure : The patterns resemble plant fossils, but they are not organisms – they are mineral deposits crystallized in a random pattern.

✦ Origin

Dendrite agates are found in several countries, including:

  • India

  • Brazil

  • Madagascar

  • Mexico

  • United States (Montana, Utah)

  • Germany

✦ Virtues in lithotherapy (symbolically)

Although this is a matter of belief and not science, in lithotherapy, dendrite agate is often associated with:

  • Personal and spiritual growth , linked to its tree motifs.

  • Connection to nature and the earth .

  • Emotional calming , especially during times of stress or change.

  • Inner balance , helping to stabilize scattered thoughts.

✦ Use

  • Jewelry : pendants, cabochons, rings.

  • Decorative objects : sculptures, tumbled stones.

  • Meditation and spiritual practice : used as a grounding or centering stone.

✦ Anecdote

Some dendrite agates are so intricately drawn that they look like real Indian ink drawings . This makes them particularly prized by collectors.
