Dendrite agate (or dendritic agate) is a variety of agate, a form of chalcedony , itself a type of quartz. What makes it unique are its branching inclusions that resemble plants , trees or ferns – hence its name, "dendrite", which comes from the Greek dendron , meaning "tree".
