Bronzite is a magnesium-rich variety of pyroxene, prized for its orthorhombic crystal structure and characteristic chatoyant luster. Originating in Brazil, this stone ranges in color from golden brown to dark brown with subtle metallic reflections. Minerally, it is composed primarily of magnesium and iron silicate, giving it a hardness of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale. Bronzite is distinguished by its natural cat's-eye effect, resulting from the alignment of its mineral inclusions. Highly valued by collectors and mineralogists, it offers a beautiful demonstration of the optical properties of pyroxenes and is an excellent specimen for the study of Brazilian minerals.
