Citrine is a variety of quartz, prized for its beautiful color ranging from pale yellow to orangey-brown, reminiscent of the warmth of the sun. Its name comes from the French word citron (lemon), referring to its lemony hue.

2. Origin and deposits

Natural citrine is found mainly in Brazil , Madagascar , Uruguay, Russia and recently in Congo. However, most of the citrines sold are actually heated amethysts (another variety of purple quartz) which take on a yellow or orange tint at high temperature.
