Green cyanite (also called green kyanite ) is a rare variety of cyanite, a silicate mineral belonging to the neosilicate group, with the chemical formula Al₂SiO₅ (aluminium silicate).

The name "cyanite" comes from the Greek kyanos , meaning "blue," as the most well-known form of this mineral is blue in color. Green cyanite, although rarer, derives its name from the same root, but has a distinct green color .
