Blue jasper is a variety of jasper, a fine stone belonging to the microcrystalline quartz family. Less well-known than other types of jasper (such as red jasper or landscape jasper), blue jasper is prized for its beautiful color ranging from light to deep blue, often marbled or veined with white, gray, brown, or black.
