Jasper K2
K2 Jasper , also called K2 Granite or K2 Azurite , is a stunning and relatively rare semi-precious stone.
🌍 Origin
-
K2 Jasper is named after Mount K2 , the world's second highest peak, located in the Karakoram range of northern Pakistan .
-
This is a granite containing spherical or blotchy inclusions of azurite (bright blue), which creates a very striking contrast between the speckled gray background and the blue spots.
🔬 Composition
-
Host rock : granite (mixture of quartz, feldspar and mica)
-
Inclusions : azurite (copper carbonate)
-
Sometimes traces of malachite (green) are also found there.
💎 Appearance
-
Light grey speckled background (typical of granite)
-
Intense blue spots (azurite) distributed irregularly
-
Unique appearance: it almost looks like a natural work of art

⚠️ Notes
-
Although often called "jasper," it is not a jasper in strictly geological terms. The term is used here commercially or descriptively.
-
Azurite is a relatively soft stone, so K2 jasper jewelry should be handled with care.
