Obsidian Midnight Lace
Midnight lace obsidian , also known as lace obsidian or serrated obsidian, is a variety of obsidian that features unique patterns of dark colors, often mottled or streaked, giving the appearance of delicate lace designs. Its colors can range from deep black to dark brown, with white or gray veins that create fascinating, flowing patterns, reminiscent of lace or marble patterns. This stone is formed from volcanic lava that cooled rapidly, forming a glassy volcanic rock.
Midnight Lace Obsidian is distinguished by its unique and intricate patterns that are often the result of the inclusion of air bubbles and minerals during its formation. These inclusions create distinctive and irregular patterns that can vary from piece to piece, making each stone unique. Like all obsidian, it is relatively brittle and has a hardness of approximately 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale, requiring careful handling to avoid chipping.
Midnight lace obsidian is valued in lithotherapy for its protective and purifying properties.
