Raw ametrine is a bicoloured crystal of fascinating geological beauty. In its natural form, areas of amethyst purple and citrine yellow coexist in the same quartz crystal, visible to the naked eye, sometimes separated by a clear line like a border between two countries, sometimes blending in a gradual gradient. It is living proof that two opposing energies can coexist harmoniously in the same stone. Raw ametrine crystals are classic hexagonal quartz points, but with this bicoloration that makes them immediately recognizable. Almost all of it comes from the Anahí mine in Bolivia, named after the indigenous princess who offered this bicoloured stone as a dowry to the Spanish conquistador she loved. It is the only commercial deposit in the world, making each raw crystal a piece of exceptional geographical rarity.
In lithotherapy, raw ametrine is considered the most powerful form of this balancing stone. The intact crystalline structure, with its two distinct colour zones, is believed to diffuse an energy of harmony between opposites, lucid creativity, and enlightened decision-making more directly than the polished version. Placed on a desk, it helps reconcile analysis and intuition in work, to think clearly while remaining connected to one's feelings. In a meditation space, it simultaneously opens the third eye chakra (amethyst) and the solar plexus chakra (citrine), creating a bridge between inner wisdom and outer confidence. For maintenance, a rinse with clear water and recharging in moonlight are sufficient. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade the purple over time. With a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, raw ametrine can be handled without special precautions.
