Pinolite , also called pinolith , is a unique and relatively rare semi-precious stone.


🔹 Origin and Composition

  • Composition : Pinolite is a metamorphic rock composed mainly of magnesite (magnesium carbonate), dolomite and graphite .

  • Appearance : It is recognizable by its distinctive appearance resembling grains of rice or pine nuts embedded in a dark matrix, hence its name.

    • The white or light gray inclusions are magnesite crystals.

    • The black or dark gray background comes from graphite and dolomite.

  • Name : The name "pinolite" comes from the resemblance of the white crystals to pine nuts .


🌍 Origin

  • Pinolite is very rare . The only known significant deposit is in Austria , in the Alps (Styria region).

  • It was discovered at the end of the 19th century.

  • Lithotherapy :

    • It is said to aid relaxation , promote inner peace and help balance emotions .

    • It is sometimes associated with the heart or third eye chakra.
