Collection: Septaria

Septaria (or septarian stone ) is a fascinating sedimentary rock with a very distinctive appearance.

🔹 Origin and training

Septaria formed about 50 to 70 million years ago . It resulted from the shrinkage of marine clays which, as they dried out, created internal cracks. These cracks were then filled with minerals such as:

  • Calcite (often yellow)

  • Aragonite

  • Barite

  • Quartz

These mineral inclusions form the star-shaped or network-shaped veins visible in the stone.

🔹 Appearance and composition

  • Typical colors : yellow, brown, gray, black

  • Texture : the cracked appearance is its visual signature

  • Structure : formed of nodules , often spherical or oval

The combination of yellow calcite , gray or brown clay , and sometimes translucent quartz gives it an almost artistic appearance.

🔹 Properties in lithotherapy

  • 🌍 Grounding and stability : connects to the energy of the Earth

  • 💬 Expression : would help to communicate better

  • 🤝 Cohesion : would strengthen relationships and harmony in a group

  • 🧠 Mental clarity : would promote concentration

🔹 Uses

  • Jewelry : cabochons, pendants, rings

  • Decorative objects : spheres, polished pebbles, sculptures

  • Collections : fossils and rare minerals

🔹 Where can we find it?

Famous septaria deposits are located in particular in the United States (Utah, California) , in Madagascar , and sometimes in France .
