Blue apatite belongs to the apatite family. It is a little-known gemstone with no legends associated with it. Known as a learning stone, it is also an excellent source of inspiration. By wearing this stone, it is possible to remove all negative energy and thus stimulate creativity, ambition, and, above all, motivation.

With its different appearances and colors, apatite was often confused with several other minerals. Its chemical composition was not finally established until the end of the 18th century. Thus, in 1786, the German mineralogist and geologist Abraham Gottlob Werner, one of the founders of mineralogy, named this stone apatite. This name is inspired by the Greek "apatan" meaning to deceive.

In Greek mythology, Apate is one of the evils that emerges from Pandora's box. He is actually the god of trickery, fraud, and deception. A little background: Pandora's box is a box given to Pandora by Zeus, on the condition that she not open it. This box contained all the evils of humanity, namely, disease, war, old age, famine, poverty, madness, vice, etc. But Pandora could not resist and opened it, which released all these evils onto the earth.

Thus, this apatite is a very popular gemstone due to its shades of blue: very pure turquoise blue, more or less dark blue. Gem-quality apatite is an ideal stone for original jewelry. Indeed, it can be cut into a faceted stone or cabochon.

This stone is a source of phosphorus, commonly used in the chemical industry and can even be found in the composition of artificial fertilizers. It is found in many rocks of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic types. Moreover, during the Apollo space program, NASA astronauts brought back lunar rocks in which traces of apatite were found.

It is worth noting that apatite is a calcium phosphate. It is therefore the only mineral present in the human and animal bodies. It is found in 65% of our nails, teeth, and enamel, in a crystalline state. The age of this mineral can be determined thanks to the tiny amount of uranium it contains.

In lithotherapy, blue apatite is commonly referred to as the stone for the hypersensitive. It helps regulate emotions and facilitates letting go. It has balancing properties, allowing people experiencing excessive emotions to find calm and serenity. Wearers of this stone can thus have objective and logical reflections. This stone serves to remove psychological barriers and release repressed emotions.

Indeed, revealing one's grief and sadness can be considered acts of weakness, while they are liberating acts. It is essential for the well-being of our mind to evacuate them, which allows us, subsequently, to better understand and manage them. In fact, by dint of repressing emotions, a sort of shell forms in which it is easy to hide. The blue apatite stone will gradually break this shell. Releasing negative emotions opens the mind to a certain calm. This promotes the circulation of our positive energies.

Furthermore, blue apatite helps us develop our sense of listening and understanding. It is a stone that is well suited to creative people such as artists or craftsmen, as it facilitates inspiration. It is an excellent support for facing buried fears and overcoming shyness, it gives self-confidence. People in the midst of doubt will thus find the strength to face the challenges of everyday life.
