Unakite belongs to the altered granite family. It is composed of aluminum, iron, and calcium silicate. Its inclusions of green epidote, orthose (pink to orange feldspar), and colorless quartz give it a stunning range of colors. In 1975, geologist M. BRADLEY discovered this fabulous stone in the Unaka Range mountains, located in North Carolina, USA. He then named it unakite. Extracted from hydrothermal, metasomatic, and metamorphic rocks, unakite is a relatively recent stone.
