Bumble Bee tumbled stone approx 20-30mm.
Sold individually.
Shapes and colors may vary from stone to stone.
Originating from the island of Java in Indonesia, this rare stone, with its beautiful sunflower yellow shades, is in fact neither a jasper nor an agate. This stone would be composed of gypsum, sulfur, hematite in a volcanic tuff matrix and to a lesser extent, other minerals would also be present in its chemical composition such as calcite or ilmenite.
This stone was used as a dye and elixir in ancient times.
The natives who exploit this sector also call it "batu badar blerang" which means "coal that becomes sulfur". This idea surely comes from its black stripes which seem to turn yellow.
It became popular in the late 1990s when a local miner sent the first sample to Arizona for the geological fair.
Thanks to the sulfur that this stone contains, the Bumble Bee would protect against insects.
