Frequently asked questions about our larimar jewelry

Is larimar suitable as a gift?

It's an exceptional gift. The rarity of larimar, its unique beauty, and its peaceful energy make it a jewel full of meaning. Its Caribbean blue is universally appealing, and its story—a stone found in only one place on earth—adds a special dimension to the gift. Gift pouch available upon request.

    Why is larimar so rare?

Larimar exists in only one place in the world: in the mountains of Barahona in the Dominican Republic. Extraction is artisanal, and the veins are narrow and difficult to access. Unlike amethyst or rose quartz, which are found on every continent, larimar has a unique and limited source, making it an increasingly precious stone.

Can the color of larimar fade?

Yes, prolonged and repeated exposure to direct sunlight can fade the blue of larimar over time. That's why it's recommended to store it away from light when you're not wearing it and to recharge it by moonlight rather than sunlight. Worn normally on a daily basis, it retains its color for years.

    Our natural larimar jewelry

Larimar jewelry carries the colors of the Caribbean Sea. Its sky blue, mixed with white and pale turquoise, with cloudy patterns unique to each stone, evokes crystal-clear waters and tropical skies. And it's not just an impression: larimar is a variety of pectolite found in only one place in the world, in the mountains of Barahona, Dominican Republic. It is this geographical rarity that makes it such a sought-after stone. Officially discovered in 1974 by Dominican geologist Miguel Méndez, who named it by combining his daughter Larissa's name with the Spanish word "mar" (sea). Mining remains artisanal, in mines on the mountainside, which adds to its precious and authentic character.

In lithotherapy, larimar is a stone of deep peace, serenity, and letting go. It works on the throat chakra and the heart chakra, creating a link between sincere expression and emotional openness. It is a stone that soothes suppressed anger, calms anxieties, and helps to accept what cannot be changed. It is recommended for people who live under constant stress, who carry too much weight on their shoulders, or who need to find inner calm. Larimar is also known to support women during pregnancy and childbirth thanks to its gentle and reassuring energy.

Larimar pairs beautifully with moonstone (gentleness and femininity), amethyst (spiritual appeasement), or rose quartz (unconditional love). For care, larimar is slightly sensitive: avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade its blue over time. Clean it with clear water and recharge it in moonlight. With a hardness of 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale, it requires a little attention to shocks and scratches.
