Iron eye is a metamorphic rock composed mainly of:

  • Hematite (iron oxide)

  • Tiger's Eye (fibrous quartz pseudomorph of crocidolite)

  • Red Jasper

It forms from successive layers of these minerals, often in iron-rich environments. The stone has bands of red, gold, black, and brown, often with shimmering reflections.

  • Color : bands alternating between red (jasper), gold (tiger's eye) and metallic gray (hematite)

  • Appearance : fibrous, shimmering, sometimes metallic

The iron eye is composed of silicon, SiO2 + iron sesquioxide Fe2O3-. Its crystal system is rhombohedral. Its colors are a layered aggregate of red jasper, ferrous oxide (magnetite, hematite) metallic gray and black as well as golden-brown yellow tiger's eye.
