Thulite is a rare semi-precious stone, belonging to the pyroxenoid family, more precisely a pink variety of zoisite .

✅ Origin of the name

• The name " Thulite " comes from the legendary island of Thule , which the ancient Greeks located in northern Europe (sometimes associated with Norway).

• It was first discovered in Norway in the 19th century.

🧪 Mineralogical characteristics

• Chemical formula : Ca₂Al₃(SiO₄)(Si₂O₇)O(OH)

• Color : Pink to rose-red (due to the presence of manganese )

• Hardness : 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale

• Crystal system : Orthorhombic

• Transparency : Translucent to opaque

• Norway (most famous)

• Also found in Austria , Australia , South Africa , United States .

• Ornamental : often cut into cabochons, beads or sculptures.

• Jewelry : used in rings, necklaces, pendants.
